I, my son and daughter and two of their friends stayed at the St. James and we loved it. The rooms were large, clean and had a wonderful atmosphere. We go to New Orleans several times a year and usually stay at another hotel, but this one is perfect and with in walking distance of all our favorite attractions. This is our new hotel of choice.

My family and I go to New Orleans every year for Mardi Gras. This year we had to find a new hotel to stay at since we decided too late. The St. James was in the best location. It was just 2 blocks from the French Quarter and Harrah's. It was close to the parade route so we could walk back to the hotel for the bathroom and food. The staff was incredible. They bent over backwards for us. I have stayed at a 5 star hotel during Mardi Gras and they wouldn't have even accommodated us like the St. James. They were extremely polite and answered every question and problem promptly. The rooms were very clean and the price was far more reasonable than other hotels in that area. I have already booked my stay there for next Mardi Gras. I figure if a hotel can be this great during Mardi Gras, imagine when they're not as busy.

My new husband and I had a wonderful stay here, This was a surprise honeymoon for us and the manager Marco made sure our room was fantastic, we had a suite, with a private courtyard, and plenty of space inside, the decor was just what I had imagined of New Orleans to be, they are really centrally located to anywhere you would want to go. The front desk staff, especially Ericka were superb. The service we received I would definitely recommend to all my friends, and my husband and I will be back, hopefully soon but if not especially next Mardi Gras, Thank you ST JAMES HOTEL!!!!!! For making our honeymoon unforgettable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Staff is polite and not overly vivacious, quick to answer requests, and it seems like there may be some permanent residents there. (quiet & rather sedate lobby...but you get the new york times free) Cheaper than big hotels, but nicer than cheap hotels. Rooms were typical size etc., but bathtub was a great soaking tub, slanted at the back, and wonderful after a hard days at the slots. Lots of restaurants nearby & Canal street is real close. Area is much safer than a few years ago and is having a resurgence that is good to see.

Just got back from our stay at St. James and we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was very nice with a window overlooking the dip pool. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only 2 blocks from canal street and a great price. ... we were very very happy with it!
