around-the-globe celebration World Cocktail Day
Once again New Orleans will participate in the around-the-globe celebration,
World Cocktail Day, May 8, 6 until 9 p.m.
This year's celebration will take place at the Museum of the American
Cocktail (MOTAC) in the Riverwalk Festival Marketplace. MOTAC is located
within the Southern Food and Beverage Museum at the most upriver location of
the Riverwalk, near the first entrance to the New Orleans Convention Center.
World Cocktail Day will feature cocktails created by 10 of New Orleans most
talented mixologists, alongside palate-pleasing offerings from 10 of New
Orleans finest restaurants. Primary supporter of the event is Beam Global
Spirits & Wine, Inc., and its local company, Jim Beam Brands in Metairie.
A highlight of the event will be New York's Dale deGroff, known as King
Cocktail, president of MOTAC; and New Orleans' own Chris McMIllian, the
Dean of New Orleans' Drink, of the Renaissance Pere Marquette Hotel,
together creating the world's largest Fire and Ice Mint Julep, a flaming
spectacle served over shaved ice.
Tickets to World Cocktail Day, $40 per person, are available on-line at
www.museumoftheamericancocktail.org. All attendees must be 21 years of age.
All proceeds will benefit The Museum of the American Cocktail, New Orleans.
