Make plans “to pawty” with us at the German Coast Farmers’ Market on
Saturday, March 14 at 10:00 A.M. at Ormond Plantation on River Road in
Destrehan. The market is busy making plans to host a St. Patty’s Pet
Pawrade. Costume your pets in holiday garb, and show them off as we parade
through the market area. Carriages or wagons are allowed. Prizes will be
awarded for the best presentation of pet. Entrance fee is $5. Register at
the Welcome Booth during Wednesday or Saturday markets held before the
celebration, or sign up that morning at 9:00 A.M. at the “Pawrade
Registration Table”. Face Painting will be available for the kids along with
Hay Rides. Music by Blanch Newsome’s One Man Show will add to the “pawty”
atmosphere.
While enjoying the festivities, shop the market for fresh produce along with
smoked & fresh meats, fresh seafood, sausage, hogshead cheese, kettle corn,
crackling, pork skins, freshly canned or frozen fruits & vegetables, wines &
jellies, freshly baked breads & pastries, gourmet rice, natural soaps &
candles, honey and pastalaya. The Arts/Crafts addition to the Market will
begin this Saturday and continue every second Saturday of each month. Hours
are from 8am until noon every Saturday. If shopping during the week is more
convenient for you, stop in at the West Bank Market which is open every
Wednesday from 3pm until 6:30pm on Hwy. 90 in Luling, in the old Kmart
parking lot. Creole cream cheese, goat milk and cheeses, seafood
specialties, rotisserie meats, delicious baked goods are only of a few of
the items also available at the West Bank Market. Call (985)764-9762 for
