The Spanish Custom House in the Bayou St. John neighborhood will soon be auctioned.
Neal Auction says the property will be sold Feb. 10. The auction house calls it one of the oldest and most historic buildings in New Orleans and one of the few surviving residences from the Spanish colonial period in the South.
Built it 1784, the house is the oldest structure still standing in the Bayou St. John neighborhood, Neal Auction said.
The home escaped the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina and has never flooded, Neal Auction said.
The home will be sold regardless of price.•
